Where Tea grows
The source publishes national and district figures for tea, but no state totals. We do not add the districts up to make one: coverage is uneven — some states publish no district breakdown for some crop-seasons — so a map built that way would be quietly wrong.

What is wrong with this data (4)
- PRODUCTION IS IN THOUSAND TONNES. The Board reports in million kilograms, which is the same quantity — a million kilograms is a thousand tonnes — so the figure is stored unconverted.
- FINANCIAL YEARS. The report also carries a calendar-year series with different figures for what a reader would read as the same year. Only the financial-year series is carried; the calendar one is in the source document.
- NATIONAL ONLY. The report splits North India and South India, neither of which is a state or union territory. The All-India figure used here is the one the Board publishes, never north plus south — though the ingest asserts the two agree.
- Tea is absent from both the horticulture release and the DES foodgrain release, so this Board is the only source for it.
