IndianAgri reports on Indian agriculture: policy and schemes, markets and prices, crops, agri-business and the people of farming. It also publishes the IndianAgri data pages, where every crop and trade figure is traced to its official release. This page explains who is responsible for what we publish, how we work, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

Who is responsible

The editor of IndianAgri is Devendra Kumar Jha, an agricultural engineer with more than 25 years of work across corporate strategy and the Indian agri-sector. He decides what we cover and approves every story before it is published. Nothing goes out without that approval, and his name appears as editor on every article.

Articles written by a named person carry that person’s byline and a profile page. Articles prepared by the newsroom carry the byline “IndianAgri Desk”.

What we publish

  • Analysis and guides: costs, yields, subsidies and prices worked out from official data, for farmers and agri-businesses.
  • Data pages: production, area, yield, support prices and trade by crop and state, each figure linked to the government release it comes from.
  • Event guides: dates, venue, costs and what a visitor gains from agriculture shows and conferences.
  • News reports: developments reported first by government sources or other publications, summarised in our own words, with what they mean for the sector, and always credited and linked to the original.
  • Contributed writing: profiles and opinion from people working in agriculture, published under their own names in Opinion. The views are the author’s.

Sources and checking

  • Figures come from official sources wherever one exists: ministries, the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, DGCI&S trade data, commodity boards, ICAR institutes, the IMD and similar bodies. We name the source and link it.
  • When a story rests on another publication’s reporting, we say so and link it. We do not copy reporting word for word, and we do not present someone else’s reporting as our own.
  • On the data pages, a figure is shown only if it can be traced to its release; where sources disagree, we say so rather than pick one silently.
  • Before approval, the editor checks headline figures, names and dates against the source.
  • We check what we have already published, so the same event is not reported twice under different headlines.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts, and to turn official data into tables and charts. A person decides what to cover, and the editor checks the facts against the sources and approves every article before it is published. We do not publish AI output that no person has reviewed, and we do not use AI to invent quotes, people or data.

Independence

  • Coverage is decided by the editor, not by advertisers, sponsors or the companies we write about.
  • Any paid or partner content is labelled clearly as such on the page. Payment never buys a news story or a change to one.
  • Companies can take paid listings or visibility on the site (see Partner with us); this is kept separate from editorial coverage.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, email info@agri.net.in with the article link and what is wrong; the “Tell us” link at the end of every article opens that email for you. The editor reviews each request. When we have got something wrong, we fix the article and show an “Updated” date on it, with a note where the change matters to the meaning. We do not quietly delete errors.
