What the numbers say
- India is a major oilseed producer, yet still imports about 57% of its edible oil — narrowing that gap is a standing policy goal.
- Output reached a record ~42.6 MT in 2024-25, after a weather-hit dip to ~39.7 MT in 2023-24.
- Groundnut, soybean and rapeseed-mustard are the main oilseeds grown.
