What the numbers say
- India is the world's largest producer, consumer and importer of pulses.
- Output recovered to 25.68 MT in 2024-25 after a weather-hit 24.24 MT in 2023-24, but is still below the 27.3 MT peak of 2021-22.
- Chickpea (gram) at 11.11 MT is the largest single pulse, followed by moong 4.24 MT and tur/arhar 3.62 MT.
