What the numbers say
- India is the world's largest tractor market; domestic sales hit a record of about 9.45 lakh units in 2022-23.
- Sales dipped roughly 7% to about 8.76 lakh in 2023-24 on an uneven monsoon and a high base.
- Because a tractor is a big-ticket farm purchase, its sales are a widely-watched barometer of rural demand.
