What the numbers say
- India's horticulture output (~353 MT in 2023-24) now exceeds its total foodgrain production — vegetables (~206 MT) and fruits (~113 MT) lead the basket.
- Production dipped marginally (~0.6%) from the 2022-23 record of about 355 MT.
- Fruit output rose ~2.3%, driven by mango, banana, grapes and citrus.
